Frequently asked questions

What buyers ask us first.

The answers below are the same ones you would get on the phone. If a question is missing, ask it directly: +49 151 56326522.

Quality and assurance

How is quality assured across 8,900 km?

Through checkpoints rather than trust: steel hardness testing at goods-in, CMM measurement of electrodes, cavities and inserts, status reports with photos from the shop floor, sampling with a dimensional report, final inspection before dispatch. Each step produces a document you get to see.

What tolerances are achievable?

The core machines work to ±0.002 mm (Makino F5 HSC milling, mirror EDM at Ra ≤ 0.1). What part tolerance results depends on material, shrinkage and geometry; the DFM report answers that for your specific part.

To which standard do you sample?

T0 at the plant with a dimensional report and process parameters, correction loops T1/T2, then the first article inspection report (ISIR) as the basis for your production part approval to VDA volume 2 (PPF) or PPAP. On request: a 4-hour endurance run and video of the sampling.

Is the plant certified?

A-KITA runs a documented zero-defect quality system from goods-in to final inspection; we compile the current certification status for you on request, per project. We claim no certificates on this website that we cannot substantiate.

Contract, law, ownership

Who is my contract partner?

TG-TP GmbH, Römhild, registered at the Jena district court (Amtsgericht Jena) under HRB 524337. German law applies. Your claims are against a German company, not against an overseas supplier.

Who owns the mould?

You do. Transfer of ownership, marking as customer property and your right to demand handover are set out in writing in the tooling contract before manufacturing starts. The design data is handed over with the mould.

How is the warranty arranged?

Through the tooling contract with TG-TP GmbH under German law, including a guaranteed tool life per mould class. In a warranty case we organise the repair and handle the coordination with the plant. The specific figures are stated in the quotation.

How is my data protected?

An NDA before data transfer, transmission via a secured channel rather than open mailing lists, disclosure to the plant only to the extent the project requires. The exclusive-partner approach structurally limits the number of eyes on your data: no tender rounds across many plants.

Price, customs, logistics

How big is the price advantage really?

Industry studies (Fraunhofer IPT/WZL) put Chinese mould prices at up to 40 % below German levels for comparable quality. The guide price after the first review of your data shows what it means for your part.

What does customs cost?

Injection moulds (HS 8480.71) carry 1.7 % third-country duty plus import VAT, which is deductible as input tax. The customs item appears in the quotation if you choose DAP/DDP delivery.

How long does transport take?

Sea freight 6–8 weeks, rail 3–4 weeks, air freight 1–2 weeks door to door. We handle preservation, seaworthy packing and transport insurance.

How does payment work?

By milestones, tied to defined results such as design approval and sample delivery. The quotation sets out the specific payment plan openly; we do not take advance payment for an unfinished complete mould.

Working together

What do you need for a quotation?

A 3D model (STEP, Parasolid or IGES), a 2D drawing with tolerances, the material with grade, annual quantity and required tool life, surface specification and the key data of the target machine. With a complete set, the guide price becomes a binding quotation.

Can I visit the plant?

Yes, and we recommend it: before you place an order, to form your own judgement, or for the sampling of your mould. We organise the date and the agenda.

Why should I not buy directly in China?

You can, with your own effort for supplier selection, audits, specification, schedule tracking, sampling, customs and claims, in English or Chinese and with a six-hour time offset. TG-TP exists because that effort is rarely economical for a single project. The research finding is unambiguous: without market knowledge and a presence on the ground, buying in China remains a gamble.

Does TG-TP also take on existing moulds or modifications?

Yes: corrections, capacity increases through duplicate moulds, and replacement inserts to drawing. The precondition is data that permits rework; we check that before we commit.

Didn't find your question?

Then it is probably project-specific, and those are exactly the ones we like answering most.
